If you’re looking for some delicious Italian food in Katy, you have got to pay a visit to Da Vinci’s. We went for the first time to celebrate our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. At first glance, it looks slightly underwhelming. It’s in a small strip center; there’s no fancy signage. With a Carrabba’s close by, it was far too easy for us to pass up this gem in the past for the familiarity of a chain restaurant. So when our anniversary was approaching, we decided to check it out, and I’m so glad we did.
When we first stepped inside, we were immediately transported to Italy by the intoxicating aroma. We started our meal with Bruschetta with a Salmon Mousse and Olive Tapenade. I’ve never been a huge fan of salmon or olives, but I could have eaten every last drop of it. We had perfectly cooked sea scallops as one of our appetizers. The other were the Lumache- think Italian escargot- covered with basil pesto and cheese. I’m a sucker for gnocchi, so of course that’s what I got. Travis decided on the Snapper Milanese, which was crispy and delicious. He got the fish served over linguine, so the juices from the fish mixed with the crab meat topping and made the most delicious sauce. We had an opportunity to meet and speak with the owner, Alex. He’s prepared food for several celebrities, including President George H. W. Bush and Emeril Legasse. He kept us entertained with a couple of magic tricks throughout the night! I have to say that’s a first for me as far as restaurant experiences go. When we ordered the Creme Brulee for dessert it came out with sparklers and champagne! It was a real experience and I cannot wait to go back!
